To be a bit more precise, A3 and A8 define
*interfaces* to the response- and key-generation
functions on the SIM (Subscriber Identification
Module, smartcard). The algorithm which is most
commonly used is called COMP-128, and it does a
combined A3-A8 computation, but I have it on
good authority that even that only accounts for
about 60% of GSM service providers.
Unfortunately, I can't help with actual test
vectors for COMP-128.
Greg.
