...special consideration for a legacy?

At East Stroudsburg University we define legacy the way you did in your
post.  However we also add that a legacy has no more right to membership
than any other student.  (This is how all fraternities and sororities at
ESU define legacy, so we were following the norm on our campus.)

Question, do other schools follow this pattern or do other automatically
accept a "legacy" because of their parents/ family?
