As most of you know, at least those who read the Torch & Trefoil and/or
attended the last National Convention, our relationship with BSA was both
reaffirmed and clarified through a dialogue with BSA that began in
December 1992.

At the request of the 1994 National Convention and National President
Wilfred Krenek, I am preparing a summary of the current relationship that
will be sent to all chapters for information. For now, suffice it to say
that our working relationship remains strong, as it has for over 65 years,
but we both are taking steps to make it more clear that we are two
separate organizations. Two points deserve emphasis (although everyone
should wait for the summary mentioned above): (1) APO's history and
heritage is *not* affected by this reaffirmation and clarification, and
(2) service to Scoutings remains, as it always has been, a very effective
way for APO to serve the youth of America.

All that being said, I want to respond to the question posed: the Scout
Oath and Law will continue to be included in the Pledge Manual and,
therefore, may be part of the pledges' educational process. I hope this
helps and will try to complete the summary as quickly as possible.
