Well as a past Conclave chair... I can tell you the formula that we OI used
when we ran our most recent one... and it's pretty stable in my eight conclaves
of experience.
Friday:
Registration
Keep the busy till we are ready with the main show
Main Friday night event.
--of course nothing happens after this as we want them in bed--
Saturday
feed em breakfast
LDW
Workshops
LUnch
more workshops
business meetings
find 'em showers
formal sitdown dinner
appropriate song and dance
dance/band
--again nothing happens after this-- ;)
Sunday
feed em again
Rededication ceremony
As a general rule of thumb the larger section like 94/96, 88/89, 43/44 have
more formal stuff as they have turn-outs that are decidedly larger.
a typical 94/96 Conclave can draw as many as 220
a typical 88/89 Conference can draw nearly 350
in many cases what you can do with a conference depends on knowing
your brothers
1) Do publicity go visit theml... if you go see them they can't claim
it's too far to go see you
2) Make sure they have the info way ahead of time and keep make sure
it's on there minds so it does not get circular filed somewhere
3) Before you pick a date make sure it's not someones spring
break... I know it's hard but you can do it
4) Also if you have chapters (like EZ) that are close to your section
send them stuff so that they to can plan for it (make sure you don't
conflict with nearby section conference that are in other regions)
WPI must have gotten nearly 50 extra people from 88/89/92
5) Advertise on e-mail...
Finally don't be constrained by what people have done before...
