Hi all. Is there a newsgroup for alpha phi omega?
A newsgroup is something like a list; it distributes information. You
can subscribe to it, post to it, etc. Moreover, like this list, it
collects people who are interested in a certain topic.
Examples:
alt.college.fraternities
concert.info
sci.physics.fusion
My list of newsgroups contains many thousands of them, but there is no
alpha phi omega group. Our fraternity has been discussed many times on
the group alt.college.fraternities. The current rage there is a
discussion on the integration of single-sex frats.
I access the newsgroups with a 'threaded news reader' on my local unix
system. I type 'trn' to use it. Maybe there are other ways on different
systems. Newsgroups are collectively called, I believe, 'USENET.' It may
be the next forum for this fraternity.
I would like to start a newsgroup myself. I am currently trying to find
out how to go about this. If it can be done without a considerable
investment of money or equipment, then maybe I could do it. I would be
willing to administrate it.
Of course, I would not do this without at least writing to the national
officers of the fraternity on email to make sure there are no objections
to it.
Any thoughts, comments, suggestions?
