Rev - I guess we're now "Old Dogs" on APO-L. "Old Dogs" is a term
coined at Kappa Chapter (Carnegie-Mellon Univeristy) for people who
have been around a while and tend to sit passively and watch what's
going on.

As Randy says, I'm still active on staff here in Southern California
(though less so recently because I'm working on my PhD dissertation
about how people at universities use electronic resources). Maybe
someday I'll write a piece about the changes I've seen in APO over the
years as more actives and staff use and rely on electronic
communications. APO-L might not have survived the way it did if it
hadn't been for Charlie Zimmerman's efforts to educate the Board about
it when using the Internet from outside universities was still a bit
dicey.

I've met most of those people fact to face over the years (though I
must confess I don't remember Johanna very clearly either). I still
see Kevin when I visit Northern California - I believe he's still
active with Zeta Chapter at Stanford where he is a graduate student.
Thank God for Holly Stowe - who introduced us to LISTSERV.
Maintaining a mailing list by hand is not fun - I'm doing it for
Region X and Sections 1&2 now. One of my biggest regrets is that I
never got to meet Holly face to face. Her increasing job
responsibilities as IUPUI dictated that she resign from APO-L list
administration, thought she was kind enough to arrange for us to keep
using her employer's LISTSERVE software and disk space.

Well, back to the regular chit-chat - I'll resume my lurking position
again.
