I'd question both of your assumptions. When the percentage from "in
region" & "out of region" is going to depend to some extent on which
regions your talking about -- more than 15% of the attendees will
probably be from the host region.
For most conventions, more people seem to drive than fly. (Boston was
something of an aberation since it's in a corner of the country (all the
chapters except 5 are west & south of the city) and thus in a 20 hr
driving range of a smaller percentage of the country than most sites (20
hr driving time seems to be about the point where things flip from "more
people drive than fly" to "more people fly than drive". Me I'm silly, I
flew to from Baltimore to Boston to drive to the Denver convention -- I
also drove to Kansas City (with 14 other brothers from the east coast) &
St. Louis (with 2 other brothers).
>Now you're talking about a maximum of $100 difference between the two.
But you're not, you're talking about a $30 difference for people who
can/are willing to sleep 6 to a room and a $200ish difference for people
who are 1 or 2 to a room.
