I disagree with taking the list moderated again. Realize that Ellen Kranzer
must manually create the list when it is moderated, filtering out the junk
mail. Ellen works for a living and I assure you, she receives no salary to
administer, much less moderate this list. Delete the junk mail, don't post to
the list whining about it, and move on.
If you want to complain about something I'd submit that, in most cases, the
signature lines on postings that are longer 3 lines are superfluous and
unneccessary. 3 lines is plenty.
The arguments for holding summer conventions are far outweighed by the
arguments against summer conventions. As much as it pains me to admit, I must
agree with Br. Schroeder on this point.
Hotels are *almost universally* less expensive and easier to come by between
Christmas and New Years. Exceptions to this rule would be for holiday season
travel destinations, one of which happens to be Las Vegas.
APO has enough trouble generating enough interest, and participation for 5 CPW
events in the summer, which are held at multiple sites and on different
weekends, much less a 4 day convention which would involve weekdays.
For the same reason *most* students enjoy the full complement of a 12 week
summer break, to work and/or relax, the Alumni Volunteers who serve in the
various capacities within the fraternity also enjoy summer to be with their
families on a more regular basis or to relax.
One Brother posted something to the effect that families get upset at us
leaving year after year during the holidays for fraternity functions. I'll
take that one step further. As an alumni volunteer with a family of my own as
well as extended families on both sides, there is nothing I dislike more than
events scheduled year after year between Christmas and New Years. I would
propose that *NO* Regional Conferences be scheduled for the week between
Christmas and New Years. In this region we have the conference in January or
February. Attendance has been good, better in fact than when the conference
was held immediately after Christmas.
