I agree whole-heartedly with a previous comment that we should not
replace formal lines of communication with e-mail. Here, at OSU, we seek
to supplement (or enhance) are formal lines of communication with
e-mail. Meeting will still be reserved for "official" announcements and
we have an office space for posting changes.

E-mail can be used for those changes that occur when notices have already
been posted to office and unsuccessful attemps have been made to
communicate by phone. Beieve me, e-mail can be a lot more reliable then
phone messages or trying to get to our office which isn't always open.

Also, email can be used for personal communication of issues between
individuals who haven't had the opportunity to gel schedule for face to face.

Also, email can be used as APO-L to discuss issues in the chapter. I
don't want anyone missing out on these discussion. I also don't want to
expect all members to stay for hours after bi-weekly meeting to discuss.
These may include preliminary discussion on service projects, by-laws,
fellowship events, leadership activities...

By requireing brother to check mail, we insure they are in the loop.
Everyone at OSU gets an e-mail (they already pay for it in technology
fee). We just propose they use it. In my experience, once you get
pass the newbie phobia of e-mail people really like it.
