In response to some past letters, allow me to respond to some comments
about pledge manuals before hazing charges go flying everywhere.
In my chapter we joke to pledges about hiding their manuals if we find
them in the office. This is to encourage them to hold on to them at all
times. It is also generally done in a joking manner, and to my knowledge,
it has only happened once or twice in the 5 years I have been in APO, and
one of those times the book that was hidden was mine. I did not condsider
is hazing, and you can bet I never forgot my book again. In fact, they gave
it back after i looked for about 2-3 minutes and didn't see it. I realize
that it is difficult to display emotions over email, but trust me, this
is not something that we take seriously. Please keep in mind that most of
the time we just joke with pledges to encourage them to remember their books.
Here we take hazing very seriously, so I can promise you this is not something
we do to be evil or anything like that.
