In response to Brother Meri Schultz's question regarding the difference between
a neophyte and a pledge, from my background (my pledging was parallel to that
of a Black Greek Organization), generally a neophyte was a newly initiated
brother who has not had a "line" initiated after them, or who has been in the
Fraternity for less than a year, whichever comes first. Conversely, an "oldhead
is a brother who has been in the fraternity at least three years and is still an
undergraduate.
But as far as APO brothers are concerned, I don't know how their and my
definitions of "neos" significantly differ. Since I had not had a line "cross"
at my respective chapter (Epsilon Psi's last line ended with me and my "sands"-
There has not been a line since us), my neo status ended 5-7-93. My oldhead
status begun in '95.
Well, I hope that helps y'all some. Gotta go now. Oh, BTW, if any of
you are having trouble with my fraternity terminology or would like to know more
about it, e-mail me.
Peace.
