Fellow brothers, my "real" name is Eric LaBay and I am the current
president of Alpha Sigma chapter of APO in Lincoln NE (go HUSKERS!!)
I was wondering if anyone could offer me some advice pertaining to the
touchy situation I am in. Do to the fact that we are a fairly young
chapter, we strive to get brothers anyway we can. Our numbers are 60
active fully participating members. Here's the situation: my little
pledge brother is gay. this is fine and dandy with me since I am
comfortable enough with my own sexuality. But he overheard some other
brothers and their negative views on the subject. He assumed that APO
is a mature enough organization that he wouldn't have to put up with
the same crap he's put up with all his life. My question is how do I
handle this situation without alienating the current brothers and
keeping my little pledge brother in the pledging process. APO is
about good to nation, the campus, the community and the fraternity and
not about sexuality. I will not tolerate such ignorance. But how
should I approach this delicate situation? I would appreciate any
suggestions comments or advice. Yours IN LFS
Rigel
