Greetings!
What follows is an e-text version a recent APO National Chapter
Bulletin - the October edition, to be precise.
No, it's not exactly a timely posting...in fact, the November
issue has already been distributed via the normal postal
mailing to all chapters. However, I'm sending this out for
general comments: Is this something you would like to see e-mailed
on a regular basis? Do you have any suggestions regarding the
format? The delivery method? Anything else?
The National Public Relations Committee, and its Electronic
Communication Planning Subcommittee, are looking at the ways Alpha
Phi Omega makes use of the tools available to communicate with
chapters and members. This is one fairly easy way we can widen
the distribution of a pre-existing publication. Does it make
sense? Your feedback will help us answer that quesiton!
Please send your comments to me at: esc1001@fnalv.fnal.gov
Thanks!
Charlie Zimmerman

NATIONAL CHAPTER BULLETIN
Alpha Phi Omega October 19, 1995
OCTOBER--A MONTH OF ANTICIPATION AND PREPARATION
If September was a start-up month for the Fraternity, then October is
the month of preparation and anticipation for what's going to happen
next. Obviously in October, we anticipate Columbus Day and Halloween.
Chances are, some of our Chapters prepare to have service projects
built around these holidays.
(Hint: We will anticipate you sending in photos and a story to the
T&T if you do have a special Columbus Day or Halloween service
project.)
The Pledge program in every Chapter should be well underway, and
thousands of Pledges should be anticipating the next stage of the
process in achieving active membership! Chapters should be
preparing for a National Service Day project relating to this year's
theme, Recycling and Green Projects. Attendance at your Regional
Conference should be another topic of anticipation and preparation!
Even the National Fraternity is preparing and anticipating.
We prepare to give your Chapter every kind of assistance needed,
and anticipate that your Chapter will have the best year possible
in Leadership, Friendship and Service!
SERVICE DAY 1995 -- RECYCLING AND GREEN PROJECTS
Every Chapter has received the 1995 National Service Day Packet.
By now, a Chapter National Service Day Chair has been assigned
and the information has been shared with the entire Chapter. In
this mailing are National Service Day logo stickers that can be
worn by those members participating in your Chapter's project,
ideally on November 4, 1995. And, remember that a report on
this project promptly returned to the National Service Chair,
mrn Tomusiak (c/o of the National Office), will increase your
chances of receiving the limited edition 1995 National Service
Day participation pin.
LIFE MEMBERSHIP
Why should you become a Life Member? What does it mean? Well,
Life Membership is a guaranteed way of staying in touch with the
Fraternity after graduation. One of the benefits is a lifetime
subscription to the Torch and Trefoil magazine. The Life
Membership fee goes directly to the Alpha Phi Omega Endowment.
The Endowment Fund has always been vital to the continued life
of the Fraternity. So your Life Member fee really goes to the
long term growth of the Fraternity. The cost is $50 for
undergraduates and $100 for Alumni. Additionally if you become
a Life Member this year, you will receive, at no additional
charge, a unique Life Member pin. Please share the enclosed Life
Member applications with your members.
MERCHANDISE FLYER
Enclosed is a merchandise and supply flyer from the National
Office. Review this flyer to insure that the needs of your
Chapter are met.
ALPHA PHI OMEGA HISTORY
On the Alpha Phi Omega merchandise and supply order form is a
listing for the Fraternity History Book. Our Fraternity Archivist
suggests that it would be a service to the Fraternity and to your
school if your Chapter would purchase a copy of our History Book
to be donated to your campus library. (See bright pink flyer.)
TORCH & TREFOIL
Please have your Chapter Historian submit photos and articles
for the Torch and Trefoil--Service Projects, leadership activities,
you name it---we want to feature your chapter news. Submit photos
and articles to: Torch & Trefoil, c/o Editor, APO National Office,
14901 E. 42nd Street, Independence, MO 64055-7347
