For all those who sent good wishes, prayers, and donations to
Amy Labarbiera last year, here is an update:

As you may remeber, Amy is the pre-school age daughter of Lenny
Labarbiera, a brother from Delta Rho (Rutgers) who pledged APO
in 1977. Amy needed a double-lung and heart transplant last
year. She did very well initially, but over the past few
months, her body rejected the lungs. Amy had lungs
transplanted again in November. She is doing well, and Lenny
is picking her up from the hospital tomorrow. Lenny sends his
thanks to everyone --- he was astounded by the response from
APO!

Amy is also the subject of an HBO documentary, planned for
release in April or May (whichever is donor-awareness month).
The cameraman who is filming the documentary worked with Ken
Burns on the documentary "Civil War".

Lenny has taken a leave of absence from work during the past
few weeks, to help deal with the hospitalization of Amy and
with her care. He is planning to remain at home for a few more
weeks to see that she settles in. If anyone is interested in
sending a card to Amy, (or a donation to the Amy Labarbiera
Fund) leave me a message and I will send the address(es) to
you.

Yours in Friendship,
Betsy Ullrich, Delta Rho, '75
