Brother Burke,

Over the past 4 or so months on the APO-L internet list, there has
been a recurring desire discussed to have the national office compile a list
of "distinguished" alumni. I would like to inquire as to whether such a project
is in the works, and if not, to suggest one be started.

The general sense I understand "distinguished" to mean is those people
who have served our principles of leadership, friendship, and service in their
post-college careers. President Clinton is the most obvious example, but only
one of thousands. The recent profile of Apollo 13 astronaut Jim Lovell in the
T&T was a superb example of the type of coverage desired by many brothers.

Whether or not a page is added to the pledge manual highlighting
alumni who have made a difference (I think it is an excellent idea!), such
a list should be compiled and made available to chapters and brothers to make
use of. Such usage could be for chapter interaction (ie pledge-alumni meetings),
recruitment and promotion, role-models, networking, and the like.

I am proud of my connections to our fraternity, and believe that so are
many of our alumni. Recognizing them through T&T profiles, a page in the pledge
manual, and a contact list would enable more alumni to express their pride.

Thank you for your consideration of these ideas. I am available at
c2mxall@fre.fsu.umd.edu for further discussions in this regard.

In Leadership, Friendship, Service,
