It isn't. I checked with the internic whois site.

I agree that registerring as soon as possible is good, however I don't
think we have much chance of taking it away from anyone especially since
we don't even have consistency in our own organization over
abbreviations. All three of the people I know of on the electronic
communications committee are on APO-L and read it regularly. If you don't
get any response on your DNS offer, I'll give their email addresses.

I think it more likely that if apo was taken then we'd take aponsf or
something like that.

I wouldn't ascribe it to malice, but rather that the national office
isn't really ready to jump in with both feet yet. That is why the
subcommittee was set up is that the national office is not on the cutting
edge of technology either in equipment or knowledge AND knows that. However
they do recognized that there are brothers out there quite willing to lead the
way.

Again, hopefully your suggestion on that will be answered by someone on
the committee.

Yes, it is first come first serve.

It was neccesary. There were people taking the natural domain names for
large companies for no other reason than to squeeze money out of them.
One example is mcdonalds.com.

Posting to APO-L is a great start!
