Dear Brothers,

I have watched the discussion about registering the domain www.apo.org
and finally felt the need to comment. I have responded to several
individuals in private email, but now would like to make my comments known.

1. www.apo.org, www.aphio.org and www.alphaphiomega.com are all domains
that we could have. A decision needs to be made about which we would go
by. I don't know if this can be made by the PR committe, The National
Office, or if this will need to be brought up for a vote at Nationals.

2. Internic, the organization that registers domains charges $100 to
register a domain for the first two years and then $50 a year
thereafter. As one brother pointed out, you also need to submit a DNS.

3. Contrary to David Dwiggins beliefs, you cannot run a site off of your
old Macintosh. First, you would need to have a dedicated connection to
the internet. Many ISP's would rather host your site for free then tie
up a modem with a dedicated connection. Also, your pages are only as
good as your connection. If 10 people tried to access our home pages at
once, on a dedicated 28.8 connection, noone is going to be able to see
the pages.

4. The website would need to have careful controll over who could work
on the pages. Although there are several brothers who have developed
increadible pages, to put up an Alpha Phi Omega page would need to be
down by a limited amount of brothers. This would need to be coordinated
through the National Office.

I hope that I have not offended anyone with my comments. There are more
issues to registering a domain than most people realize. I am willing to
help in any way possible
