Dear APO-L, undergrads, alumni and international friends,
The APO National Alumni Committee has set up two programs to secure
discounts for airplane flights -- one program is for any flight, anywhere, by
anybody; the other program is strictly on Southwest Airlines to the National
Convention in Phoenix.
Either you or your travel agent may make the reservations.
PROGRAM NO. 1 -- This program is with Travel Discounters of Washington
D.C., and is designed to save individuals between 5-40 percent on airplane
travel on all major airlines, except Delta and Southwest. The National Office
will receive a 10 percent rebate from our travel every month with this
program.
Anyone -- including your friends or relatives -- may use it for any type
of air travel in the U.S. or abroad. The trip does not have to be
APO-related.
The way the program has been set up for us is:
1) Call Travel Discounters at 1-800-355-1065. There is a recording that
tells you to press the number "1'' for airline travel.
2) After you press 1, a travel operator will come on the phone and you
must tell her/him that you are with Alpha Phi Omega National Service
Fraternity and your code is "APO.''
It is important to give the code, because we are supposed to receive an
additional discount because of who we are, and that coding also is how they
look up how much to rebate to the National Office each month.
The salesman with whom I spoke said we will want to make reservations
early for each trip, but that this is a way to save money on last-minutes
trips that normally cost hundreds more than flights planned in advance.
PROGRAM NO. 2 -- We will receive a 10 percent discount on all Southwest
Airlines flights to Pheonix between Dec. 22, 1996 and Jan. 6 1997. (This
does not include government or promotional fares, but does include all
every-day unrestricted fares as well as a majority of restricted fares).
To take advantage of the discount, reservations must be made by calling
the SWA Group Desk at 1-800-433-5368 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Central Time,
on Monday through Friday. (We have to do it this way because of our specific
dates for the convention). You must use our group ID number, which is: B9486.
All Southwest Airlines reservations have to be made before Dec. 17, 1996.
We have to have a total of at least 50 reservations to be in this
particular Southwest Airlines discount program. And for every 40
reservations, the national office receives one free ticket to go anywhere
Southwest Airlines flies.
