Someone has asked for information about Thomas Kean, who was selected by
the National Board of Directors on July 13 to be the 1996 Fall Pledge Class
Namesake Honoree. Here is some of the information provided by Pi Upsilon
Chapter as a part of its nomination of President Kean for this honor. --
Jack McKenzie, NVP
The following information was provided by electronic mail by J.D. Urbach
II, President of Pi Upsilon Chapter at Drew University.
" ... The brothers of the Pi Upsilon Chapter, Alpha Phi Omega, do hereby
nominate Brother THOMAS H. KEAN, President of Drew University and former
Governor of the State of New Jersey, as the 1996 Fall Pledge Class Honoree.
We can think of no one who has exemplified our cardinal principles of
Leadership, Friendship and Service more in both his public and private
life, than has Governor Kean. He has been recognized again and again for
his dedication to helping others and has been commended for his public
record of service by both Democrats and Republicans alike. On top of his
outstanding record of service, Tom Kean has been a very supportive Advisor
of Pi Upsilon Chapter and active Brother of our fraternity. I know that I
speak for every brother in my chapter, as well as for many brothers
throughout Section 99 and across the country, when I say that I believe the
Hon. Brother Thomas H. Kean would make an excellent choice for the 1996
FALL PLEDGE CLASS NAMESAKE HONOREE."
