I don't know how easy it is to set up other list, but I think it would
be a wonderful idea to set up another listserv somewhere to
discuss/debate issues in the fraternity. I love to read opinions from
everyone on issues facing the fraternity, but have noticed that some
brothers get really upset when debate lingers on beyond a dozen
messages. I DEFINITELY don't like hearing the same person give the
same opinion time after time, but I wouldn't mind receiving opinions
(messages) from anyone who has one. This could, potentially, lead to
scores and scores of messages.
I realize this is a bit much for APO-L. Some subscribers have to pay
by the messages. Others get so frustrated with discussion at hand
that they decide to TOTALLY unsubscribe given no viable alternative
for them.
Another listserv would, in theory, allow for an exchange of ideas. Of
course, there is a chance that no one would subscribe and that would
defeat the purpose.
Just my 2 cents,
Liston

With the imminent start of the new school year, I would like to
get your feedback on a suggestion to manage traffic on our APO-L list. What do
you think of the following proposals for focusing our existing lists and adding
new lists:
APO-L/APO-ANN: Alpha Phi Omega Announcements
APODISC: Alpha Phi Omega General Discussion
APOLEGIS: Discussion about 96 Convnetion Legislation
APOSOC-L: APO Social Discussion (same)
I feel that these new designations would help keep people informed about the
areas they are most interested in. There are a lot of people who have email
now, and it might be appropriate to specialize our electronic communication
beyond APO-L and APOSOC.
One caveat, I will not be able to host these lists as I will be leaving my
internet-provider this year (hopefully:-)) but I would like to hear some
feedback so if there is a decision to be made, we can do by September.
