During our tour of the National Office on Sunday during the SRW, upon
introducing myself to Pat Burke (our ned) I found myself sitting in
front of his computer and logging into AOL. Seems he's been having
trouble loading up my web site with the new AOL browser that's part of
the 3.0 version for Windows. Every time he brought up the site it
would completely crash the entire AOL setup and he basically had to
reboot before he could do anything safely.
The technical problem seems to be a bug in the handling of the GIF89a
animation extension, so when it hits my animated banner (where the
APhiO goes down and the greeks come up then reverse) it just kind of
goes, ackk thppt! (Don't you love technical descriptions?) I've reset
his bookmark so that he goes into the regional map section instead of
the welcome center. To all users of this new AOL setup, I would
suggest this or turning off image loading, or getting access to a
browser that can handle these images without dying.
The URL for the regional map section is:
http://work1.utsi.edu:8000/fuzz/aphio/byregion.html
The master URL for the site is still:
http://work1.utsi.edu:8000/fuzz/aphio/
This is AOL's fault not mine, please direct complaints and gripes to
the guilty party. :)
Yours in net-surfing,
Reuben "Fuzz" Hochstedler
