You may want to provide references if they are still reluctant after
this. When I pledged, our project was a picnic with unmatched kids
through Big Brothers/Big Sisters. They were very reluctant to work
with us due to past experiences with social greeks. At the end of
the picnic, the contact from BB/BS complimented us on how well we
interacted with the kids.
It just takes one positive experience, and they'll remember who the
good ones are.
