Hey, Brothers, I'm home!!!
Well, I like to wish you all back to your respective schools and/or jobs and hope that you all had a nice summer. There are a couple of things that I brought up last semester that I have not followed up on bringing info for and must be addressed.
First, the Nina Jackson trial
This particular update is NOT to evoke controversy, but to let everyone know the outcome of the case--yes, the trial ended circa June 5, and I was not sure that everyone would be made known to that, i.e. going home for the summer. Anyway, Nina was found guilty; she had to spend five weekends in jail, pay restitution to the teacher that she hit, pay a substantial fine ( I don't remember offhand the exact amount), and court costs. There is no plan to appeal the decision. I asked her husband, her mother and community activist Nommo X was there a lesson to be learned from all this. While they didn't have an answer per se, the general consensus was that the whole affair was (get this) a big POLITICAL mess.
While none of them knew about the APO-L controversy at all, I walked out of the room feeling like a complete and utter BLANK (Play "The Match Game" with that sentence if you wish). Anyway, I closed that matter once and for all after that.
Now for the attempt to recharter Central State's chapter (Iota Epsilon)
There has been an attempt since Spring of '95 to petition to recharter Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio. I thought I got my big break when I met the gentleman in charge of getting it started, Antoneaux Clinton, back in Dec. '95. John & Barb Anderson was the first to know, as I wasted no time letting it be known to them. Unfortunately, the interest is still there, but the resources isn't, meaning that, for those who don't know (It is major news in the state of Ohio, but I don't know if it is national news), but Central State University is in DEEP financial trouble, i.e. and $11 million deficit, 6 of the 9 dormitories condemned and subject to the wrecking ball--students live in hotels in nearby Springfield, a recently and long overdue cafeteria renovation (Does this mean no overabundance of flies in the Caf while it's 20 degrees outside), financial fund mismanagement, etc, etc. The point is (finally), the fellows had to put APhiO on the back burner, an!

wn, despite promises from Gov. Voinovich that CSU will remain a 4-year university, is still looming over it's head/administration (Fuzz, if CSU shuts down, you'll be the first to know--I know the deal).
Now for ME!
For those that are dying to meet me, I will be attending Convention '96 in Phoenix, AZ; I will arrive on the 27th and leave on the 30th. So if you want to give me a slime bath for all the outlandish things I have posted on the APO-L in the past year and a half, just look for the Denzel Washington look-alike twirling a blue and gold cane with FINESSE (smile).
BTW, our chapter (Rho Theta, Cap. U., Cols., Oh) has elected Ben "Agamennon" Hirt (spr. '96) to be the chapter's voting delegate. So keep the Folgers hot when he gets there (smile).
