To All Brothers----

For two days now the National Office has been without telephones....

It all began with the unseasonal snow storm two days ago ....rain, to ice, to
heavy wet snow (with thunder and lightning) tore down trees, and electrical
lines all over the metropolitan area. Power surges interrupted telephone
service. We received 5" to 7" of snow. 200,000 homes and businesses without
power, or telephone service By Wednesday morning most of the snow was
gone....except the damage.

The National office had electricity and heat and lost only a few branches
from the trees. However no telephones for two days makes life a real hell!

We do have our FAX working because it is a separate dedicated line. Judy's
e-mail is working (we don't know why) that is why I'm writing this messagef
rom her work station. Our e-mail for aponed is still not working.

The latest news is .....we should have a telephone repairman here by noon
today (Oct.24) and hopefully be back to normal after that. As the telephone
message says (when you are on hold) ....please be patient the next available
staff will be with you in a moment....... as soon as we get a open telephone
line!

Fraternally,

Patrick Burke
Alpha Phi Omega
National Executive Director
