Hello all... I've never introduced myself either, but have been trying to wade
through all the discussions going on lately over this listserv. While I was
flipping through the debate over...I'm not even sure what anymore.... APO's
affiliation with the Boy Scouts, a message came up about a project going on
right now. Out of the 49 messages I had from AOP-L, one was about what I
believe is the purpose of Alpha Phi Omega--not about where we are from,
although it is important, not about how we should word our slogans, or if
all-male chapters should be abolished, but about SERVICE and HELPING our
communities. I was a brownie for a couple years, my father is an eagle scout,
but how does either of those two facts change the fact that there is so much to
be done to help others, and so much that our organization can do! Maybe I am
naive, but when I committed myself to this organization I did so to give
something back to my world. That is what my understanding of APO is, a way for
all of us to make our world better for everyone. Yes the details are
important, but sometimes I hope that people take a step back and think about
what we are all here to do, and why we believe we should.
