Brothers,
Since I missed the talk about the Slogan (I'm the one who proposed it)
mainly because I just got on the list I will only say this:
"The supreme purpose of Alpha Phi Omega is
Service."
Where have I read that before? I know where it is and due to the openness
of the list I will only say to check your Ritual book. (If you need help
tallk to me over private email.) if your would like to discuss this
further use private email. (That seems to be the status quo.)
The current topics Boy Scout and all male Chapters:
I was against moving away from the BSA in 1994 and support anything to
bring the Purpose of APO back to (at least in my mind) the way is should
be.
I have been a part of the Boy Scouts for as long as I can remember (I'm an
Eagle Scout, and part of numerous Summer Camp Staffs) and I feel the BSA in
the BEST organization for boys. In our society of teen violence and drug
abuse (just to name a few of the problems of today) there in not an
organization better suited to help young mem than the BSA.
I am very much tired of people slaming Boy Scouts for there views on the 3
G's and not giving BSA correct for the world on good it does.
I'm about to stated a very unpopural opinion: APO is not for everybody.
(I think I will add my disclaimer here and now. What I write is my opinion
and it does not reflex the opinion of my Chapter or anyone else.) If you
are not committed to Service, Leardership and Friendship the this in not
the place for you *period*. If you don't like the "Princlpes of the Boy
Scouts of America as embobied in the Scout Oath and Law" then this is not
the place for you.
As an American I have the right to hold any set of biefs and opinions.
Furthermore, I have the right to form groups that refect my opinions. My
point, what gives you (in the most general case) the right to join my
organization and change it. If you didn't like what the organization
stands for start your own organization that refects YOUR opinions and
values and don't change my group because I like it the way it was in the
past and the way it is now (for the most part but I want get into that
here) and I want it to stay that way in the future.
I have been reading the posting and replies and would like to state that I
agree with most if not all the comments may by the Itialian Stallion.
Again (since I'm Chapter President) I am stating my opinions and I am not
specking on behalf of my Chapter.
(If this were an English paper there would not be any spelling or gammar
mistakes but since this in not there maybe a few.)
Please understand I respect all Brothers regardless of there opinions. A
hope nobody takes what I have state personally because it what not ment to
offened anyone.
