After having read all of the discussion on the topic. I do feel it would
be wrong for the National Fraternity to pass legislation going back on a
prommise it made 20 years ago. What I do feel would be appropriate action
by the National Convention is to vote on the convention "asking" these
chapters to go co-ed. ~~~~~~
Though I do feel these chapters are in current violation of our national
by-laws, and in violation of Title IX. The Fraternity will have to wait
until these chapters are forced by their school administration, or by a
law suit to go co-ed. I would much rather the chapter choose to become
co-ed of their own without being forced to do so by any entity, but we'll
see. I do believe that over time there will be no such thing as an
all-male chapter (except at all-male schools).
As it looks like I will not be able to make it to Phoenix :( (the $)
I would appreciate if someone would pass the suggestion along to the
appropriate reference committee that the resolution should be passed as
"asking" these chapters to go co-ed, instead of "forcing".
