Here at Phi Chapter, we have a tradition of honorarily inducting the
Chancelor of Syracuse University and his/her spouse (his until now, but you
never know!) and the President/Spouse of SUNY-ESF. There is some question
over how effective this is, since we are not even sure if the Chacellor
remembers that he is a brother, but it is a nice thing and gets the upper
level administration involved with the chapter for a while.
For example, I was initiated with ESF President Whaley and his wife.
I think it is important that the relationship be kept informal, though.
There should definitely not be a case where the college administration is
determining the actions and policies of the APO chapter.

PS: With regard to the comment about people keeping out of date subject
headings, there is some logic to this. If everyone created a new subject
heading, there would be no way to tell which mesages were responding to
each other.
