Dear APO-L,

Please take a moment from the current "Great Debates" on APO-L for a
notice concerning the Silent Auction of Sports Memorabilia at the National
Convention. The items will be on display Dec. 28-29 and the final auction
will be Dec. 30. (We will need volunteers to man the display table for the
three days).
At the Dallas/Fort Worth convention, we raised an even $2,000 that was
split evenly between the AIDS committees in Houston and Dallas. This
year, we will donate the monies raised to the Phoenix Red Cross.

*plus I have more than 15 requests still out there

*And I am expecting a baseball to be signed by Kansas City Royals all-star
George Brett, to be delivered by National Executive Director Patrick Burke.
Also, former National President Jerry Schroeder said he will donate a photo
of him with Pres. Clinton. I'm sure I can browbeat Pres. Wilfred Krenek
into donating something to the auction - as long as it is not any briefs (I'm
very sorry I brought up that mental image).

IF YOU CAN BRING ANYTHING ELSE FOR THE AUCTION, please do
so. Let me know so we can advertise it before Nationals. The time is now to
write a letter if you have not, as there usually is a 4-6 week waiting period
before sports franchises will respond to a letter.
Remember that undergrads can go talk to the athletic director at your
respective school and get a football/basketball/baseball jersey to auction off.
