Hello everyone.
First, let me introduce myself. My name is Bob Macke, and I am an alum
of Alpha Chi chapter at MIT, and currently a grad student and an active
in the Alpha Phi chapter at Washington University (in St. Louis).
Anyway, both of the chapters I belong to are coed, so I can say
little about the whole coed / all-male debate, except for one thing.
I know that simply by lack of having any experience with all-male chapters,
I am in no position to judge them. IMHO, neither is anyone else who has
not had firsthand experience with all-male chapters. I have seen enough
of this sort of armchair judgment happen, and it does little except
create resentments and further misunderstandings.
What ever happened to the spirit of Brotherhood which pulled me into APO
in the first place? Remember, we're all Family and friends here, and as
such we should be accepting of our differences and oddities.
Anyway, that's my two bits. Now for the real reason I bothered to write
anything in my copious free time:
I joined this list within the last two weeks, so I have only seen this
flame war about coed vs. all-male. What are some of the other major
issues facing us as Nationals approaches? I am sure many of them are
also very important but are getting the back burner at the moment.
