i must say that i am with Laura on this one. In our chapter (ABZ) we
vote on our pledges as Laura stated. We do this for a reason. I really
don't care for the voting but it has served a purpose in a a few cases.
Would you want someone in your chapter who, During pledging, Lied about
brothers, started vicious rumors about brothers and pledges among other
things? We felt that this person would destroy the fabric of our chapter.
there are other reasons but i will not go in to those right now.
Also just recently, we had a situation of sexual Harrassment. This
pledge made EVERY ONE of our brothers feel extremely uncomfortable. He
made his pledge brothers feel the same way. Would you want to feel
totally uncomfortable with someone who you had to work beside? NO. people
get fired from jobs for less than what we voted him out for. It is a rare
case when we have to exercize the "power" we have to No-vote someone.
but these intances (sp?) are documented to our Staff members.
there is a point when you have to look at the person, beyond if they
completed the requirements. Hell... Charles Manson could have completed all
the requirements, but do you want him in your chapter???
