First off, rereading my post, I noticed several important typos
(like forgeting the word "not" where it obviously makes a difference);
My apologies for that and I hope everyone understood what I meant anyway.

From easiest to hardest order:
Good way to get a date: Well, actually, we kinda
advertise that as a reason to join, since our chapter is about 70% female
and we want more guys. But even so, requirements are stiff enough that
either they'll like it on its own or will decide it's not worth it for a
date and depledge voluntarily. Also, I've seen guys try to sleep their
way thru the chapter and it just doesn't work for them. They often don't
realize that people talk to each other and girls figure them out pretty
damn quick. They usually either stay for what one might call better
reasons, or leave voluntarily.
Rude: So they're rude?? If they want to do service,
fine. Some people you just can't begin to understand in even one
semester's time. Maybe they're just one of those hard to get to know. I
had a Pledge Brother who at first came off as this loud mouthed,
Ditto-headed, overbearing, argumentative jerk. As I got to know him and
understand him better, I got to like him better and realize he's not
rude, you just have to get to know him. He was later a roommate of mine
and now one of my best friends.
Also, so they're rude? big deal. If they stay rude, no one will
have anything to do with them outside of projects or meetings. Either
they'll leave on their own or they'll get the message.
"Resume-Boy/Girl": Same as previous paragraph. Probaly people
wn't have anything to do with them, or they will come to value APO as
more than jsut Rez-filler. Also, if they're vocal about their aims, they
probably won't ever be elected or appointed to an office (at least, not
in my chapter), so, at that point, what good has it really done their
resume. Not too much.

Well, I guess my response, in a nutshell is this: in any case,
these people would either drop on their own or come to like APO for more
than just date- or Rez-potential, or they'll realize they are pissing
people off and change.
Part of the depleging scenario would rest on stringent
requirements. We started with 34 pledges, 6 have dropped this semester.
My Pledge Trainer tells me possibly 3-4 may not activate this semester.
All of those numbers are a bit higher than average, though. If req'ts
are too easy, then they'll jsut stay in. But if req'ts are hard enough,
they'll drop. (Sort of a Marginal Benefit - Marginal Cost balancing act
for all those economists in the crowd.)
