Hello Everyone!
Just to get us out of all this nationals talk:
Our chapter (Delta Kappa, Emory U.) is having our semesterly elections.
Part ofthe elections include voting on constitutional amendments.
During our semesterly CPPC, many brothers said they wanted a more flexible
service requirement than our current 3 projects or 10 hours per semester.
My idea is this:
Withing the first two weeks of the new semester, each brother will
formulate their own service requirement. Depending on how busy their
semester is, they can agree to do more or less projects/hours. This
requirement will be approved by the Srrvice Chair, who may wish to
maintain a minimum number of service hours per brother. To maintain
active status, the brother must complete his or her own personal service
requirement.
The Benefit is obviously the fact that it's more flexible than our current
policy. It will let brothers who can attend regular chapter meetings but
perhaps not many weekend service projects remian active brothers and
retain their vote.
The Cost is an increased paperwork demand on the SVP.
My questions are these: Are ther e additional costs and benefits?
Do the postivies overall outweigh the negatives?
Does anyone out there have any similar policies?
How have they worked?
Please respond ASAP!
Thanks!
Brooks Moore
Pres. Delta Kappa, Emory U.
