I would like to thank you for expressing your thoughts onthis subject.I also
want to explain a few things about our chapter, expressly the little
sister program. Delta chapter has been active for 69 yrs. We have been
able to maintain that status by keeping a balance. Since 1972 that
balance has been between the brothers and the little sisters. In 1976
the national voice of the Fraternity consented to the admittence of women
to the circle of brotherhood. And this in itself
was not a bad thing for some chapters. I don't want to Be quoted as
saying that co-ed chapters are bad, because that action may have
added a lot to that particular chapters ability to perform the
cardinal principals. Delta was one of the chapters that did not see
a benefit in going co-ed. We did see the possible benifit of others adding
female brothers, If they so chose. That choice and the right to make that
choice was and should always be the right and choice of the individual
chapter, based it's own analysis of thier own needs. Our
little sister program is an outgrowth of this established
service program, and is a helpful but not a necessary part of
our chapter's operation and service ability. We choose to
keep this balance, as we let other chapters choose the balance that
best suits their needs. For either party to force their
will on the others would be just as wrong as if the brothers in
1976 had not allowed chapter whose needs deemd so, to determine their own
membership. These are my opinions on this matter and should not be
construed to be anything else. I would like to thank you for your time
