If you are seriously interested in looking into organizing a National
Convention site bid, you should make sure you talk to Pat Burke in the
National Office to find out what our requirements are before you start
talking to hotels and convention beauraus, etc.
We have a number of specific requirements for facilities. The one that
usual causes the most problems is the number of meeting rooms we use. It's
high for a convention of our size. Pheonix was the first time we've gone to
using facilities outside the hotel (something that usually, though I don't
know what the arrangement in Pheonix was, will add significantly to the cost
of putting on the convention) to give us enough function space.
