Our chapter used this method last semester and it proved to be a great
success. We were still a Petitioning Group at the time, so we had LOTS of
business to take care of.
One of or scouting advisors had connections that enabled us to use Camp
Geronimo, a scout camp in Payson, Arizona, for the weekend. We used this
opportunity for three things: 1) We conducted our CPPC. 2) We made the
entire weekend into a fellowship by having a cookout on the first night.
3) We conducted a service project that involved cleaning up the staff
cabin that we stayed in, as well as a trash pick-up throughout the rest of
the camp. We also had a storm that knocked out the water main to the
entire camp, so we assisted the resident ranger in repairing the water
main. So basically, it turned out to be a very productive weekend! I
would highly recommend the "retreat method" of conducting the CPPC as it
helps brothers grow closer and gets a lot done by eliminating the
distractions that may occur either at home or on campus.
