First, let me say that I am not sure how this is directly related
to apo-l but since I work in the credit business day after day after
extremely long day, I thought I would reply to this...
Short background with where I work in the credit industry...I work
for a company called Household Credit Services...we house the GM regular
and gold mastercards...(just speaking for the Chesapeake, VA office)...I
am in the collections dept...yes, that means I am one of the many who call
you if you let your GM mastercard fall 60 days past due...
You're probably saying...where is she going with this...well, each
day I see several Credit Bureau Reports on clients that I am looking into
possible legal action...we pull the reports from Equifax...which is one of
the 2 major credit bureaus in the US...
Looking at any credit bureau you are not going to see the same
info as you would on another one...reason being, each company reports at
different times and on different issues... However, if you think that by
using this so called Tax ID # you won't have your "bad" credit info pulled
out of the wood work...you are worng...
Case in point, I am currently working on preparing an account for
legal action...I pulled only one Credit bureau report on this account and
I now know that this person has had over 15 credit cards...most of which
are either delinquent or have already charged off...also, when credit
cards are looking at your report, they also have the right to inquire or
as most people see it, conspire, with other credit cards, car loans, house
loans or even student loans that you may have to find out where you are
working, how much you are making and even where you are currently living
and with whom...
I know y'all are saying where is she going with this...well, a
little brotherly advice to anyone in apo-l land that has or had credit
problems...1st...try to get current and stay that way...if that is not
possible and there are extenuating circumstances as to why you are behind
on your payments, contact Equifax or TRW and attach a note of explanation
to the credit report...that note will travel with that report to whomever
requests the report...I have seen that in many instances where that note
has helped out a person's situation greatly...
There is no quick cure for a bad credit rating...most everone gets
into a jam at one point or another and the best thing you can do is to get
the account current and keep it that way...over time a credit report will
heal itself...
