I am very pleased to announce that, after a 35-year absence, an active
chapter of Alpha Phi Omega will be present on the University of Chicago
campus! The chartering ceremony for Gamma Sigma will take place in the
early afternoon of April 6 (the Sunday of the Section 48 Conference).
In the year since their petitioning ceremony, the University of Chicago
group has made a consistent effort to establish a well-rounded program
of leadership, friendship, service, and interchapter relations. In
addition to their campus and community activities, they have attended a
Regional Conference, participated in a Section 48 Leadership Development
Conference, and helped organize two multi-chapter service projects.
Please join me in congratulating the members of the University of
Chicago group on the success of their dedication and efforts!
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the Sigma Sigma
chapter at the University of Illinois-Chicago, which has acted as the
"big brother" chapter to the U of C petitioning group. Their enthusiasm
and knowledge have helped the U of C group become an asset to Chicago's
Hyde Park community, as well as to Section 48, Region VI, and the
National Fraternity.
If you are interested in attending the chartering ceremony, please
contact me at the email addresses listed below. Thanks!
In L, F, and S,
Natalie Ferber
