Probationary status here at Zeta Theta means a brother has failed
to meet his service requirement and/or zeroed his account to $0 by the
first meeting of each term. A brother is put on probation by a majority
vote of the Executive committee. Additionally, if a brother's account
exceeds $40 at any time during the term, they can also be placed on
probation at that time. In some instances there are circumstances
that justify not making the requirement. In those cases, we usually waive
the requirement that being service or work out a plan with the brother to
acheive what requirements he needs to meet. This is usually done when
financial problems arise. In other cases, there is absolutely no valid
reason why the requirements weren't met or one just wasn't given by the
brother; thus, a vote to place them on probation occurs. While on
probation, the brother still must meet all active requirements; however,
they can't vote on chapter issues. Inactive status is much different from
Probationary status here too. When a brother is voted inactive either by
their own asking or a chapter vote of 85% or more with sufficient reason
behind it, they are relieved of all responsibilities, have no chapter
vote, lose their page in the pledge books and some other things which
escape my mind. I just wanted to clarify this here as to what those terms
mean to us seeing that others are thinking otherwise.
