Hello,
I never really got around to sending an intro in when I first joining
APO-L so I decided now was a good of time as any. My name is Chris
Stockdale and I pledged at Alpha Phi chapter at Washington University
in St Louis, Missouri, in the spring of 1989. I was your standard
border line active for a few semesters, then somewhere in my junior
year, early I think, I got bit by the APO bug. Anyway, I graduated and
moved to the Univ of Oklahoma in the fall of 1992 for grad school.
I came down here, got involved in APO in less than a week, and the
rest is history I won't bother you with. Since joining APO, I've served
on various committees, chaired a big service project, served as a
fellowship VP, service VP, pledge trainer, and a few other jobs.
Just this last weekend I was elected the Section 32 (Oklahoma) Chair.
I wanted to take an opportunity to (finally) introduce myself
to the readers of APO-L and get some input on some ideas that I have.
If you have something that you think would be of use to the other
subscribers then post responses to APO-L, otherwise just reply to
me directly.
THINGS TO DO:
1. Plan a Sectional Retreat (and/or campout). I currently have
two chapters and we attend an annual tri-sectional conference
with brothers from Kansas and Arkansas, with others chapters
welcome to come. But I wanted to do something to specifically
target the needs of the chapters and make it as personal as
possible. I am asking the active chapters to appoint 2 brothers
each to plan and organize this event, any input or ideas for
events, programs, or coordination are welcome.
2. Work on extension efforts. I have student contacts at 2
major universities in the state, U of Tulsa and Okla Central Univ.
Both places have students who are already brothers so I hope to
something started by the end of the semester at both schools.
If you have experiences, good and bad, you'd care to share with
me I would appreciate, so I can avoid any pitfalls and do the
best I can. I am aware there are official APO aids and packages
on these topics, so if you let me know how the practical aspects
go, I'd prefer those comments.
Thanks for letting me use up your bandwidth,
Yours in brotherhood,
Chris Stockdale
