Hey, Brothers
First up in the news is the latest with Iota Epsilon Chapter (Central State University; Wilberforce, Ohio). On a somewhat light note, I think CSU got the $10.8 mil. grant (Senate approved it and the House is voting on it, and if it's a green light, the Governor will also do the same). On a darker note, I think that the "interest" group is dissolving in light of the current controversy. More news on CSU later.
Now for a sad note: I am currently *contemplating* separating from Rho Theta chapter because I feel I was supremely insulted by another brother. I was told in so many words that I was not a brother of the chapter (Let's not split hairs between active, associative, alumni, etc.). Here's what happened. I inadvertently put my foot in my mouth and told a chapter "secret"--Frankly I wasn't thinking. He (Let's call him Charles) told me to "get the hell out of the [frat] room" and that he was tired of me coming to the room uninvited (that was not true--the pledgemaster did invite me; but who was he to set his own criteria as to who can and cannot enter the room?) and that I was not a brother of the chapter (I received my chapter membership shingle 9/22/96--well after I was an alumni of the chapter and even more so after I was accepted in the chapter in '95). Charles has been holding IMHO trivial grudges against me since I first associated with the chapter, giving me what could !

ks (I take them well in stride), but when I joke back, he doesn't want to hear them, and has been the brother most frequently saying to me that "donations [to the chapter] are always welcome" and I deliver with the goods. But I WILL NOT allow him or anyone else to question my status as a brother if it is uncontested otherwise. I hate to penalize an entire chapter, but he threw me out speaking for the chapter (so it seemed) and his post-commentary was thus speaking for the chapter, so I gotta go where I am welcomed. I am more than willing to apologize for my wrongdoing, but I gotta hear the same from him. Until then, sayonara, RT and it's been fun.
PS-Maybe I should speak w/some of the other bros--that's why my decision is not cast in stone.
