Join the club, BROTHER Jason!
In case you missed it, I quit my chapter as well. Even if I hadn't I
was going to be evicted anyways.
I made a mistake, a fairly big one. I worked a vendor during race
weeks, with whom I was introduced by through the chapter. I
misunderstood, or failed to hear, the fact that any monies made were
supposed to go to the chapter. It was my understanding that the others
were volunteering for Alzheimer's Association for their benefit, and the
rest of us were merely given an opportunity to make money on our own. I
kept it, spent it, and am still broke. In any case, the chapter
proceeded to make me inactive, demand the money back and impose
additional service hours.
I admited my wrongs, paid them back. Yet it seems that are taking
advantage of the situation to further attack me personally. They are
asking nationals to revoke my Life Membership and banish me from the
fraternity. Now, I think that's a bit extreme, out of hand, and flat out
wrong. I would even term it hazing on the grounds of putting me through
extreme undue stress.
So... who knows what will happen now?
If anyone has any suggestions or comments on this situation, please feel
free to enlighten me.
