About: 1997 Fall Pledge Class Namesake Honoree
At its July 1997 meeting, the National Board of Directors will select the
person for whom the 1997 Fall Pledge Class will be named. I chair the
committee that will recommend to the Board a candidate for this honor.
Serving on the committee are International Relations Director Dave Emery,
National Finance and Operations Director John Wetherington and Regional
Directors Susan Itterly (VIII), Tanya Refshauge (IX), and Teri Sheets (X).
The purpose of this letter is to solicit nominations for this important
honor. Nominations should be sent to me in care of the National Office by
no later than May 1. While all complete nominations (see below) received
in the National Office by May 1 will be considered, the Pledge Class
Namesake Committee has developed the following guidelines:
* The nominee should be a specific individual who has had a significant and
positive impact beyond the Chapter level. If the person is being nominated
because of his or her accomplishments within the Fraternity, the person's
impact should extend to at least the Regional level. If the person is
being nominated because of his or her accomplishments outside of the
Fraternity, the person's impact should extend to at least the National
level.
* The nominee should be a person whose actions, accomplishments and life
experiences reflect each of the Fraternity's Cardinal Principles of
Leadership, Friendship and Service.
To be complete, a nomination must include the following information
presented in this order (incomplete nominations will not be considered):
* an introductory cover letter signed by the nominator; if the nominator is
a Chapter or other group of people, the letter should be signed by the
nominator's authorized representative.
* a brief biographical sketch of the nominee, including, as appropriate,
the nominee's current home or business address, telephone number(s) and
e-mail address.
* a listing of the nominee's actions, accomplishments and life experiences
that reflect the Fraternity's Cardinal Principle of Leadership.
* a listing of the nominee's actions, accomplishments and life experiences
that reflect the Fraternity's Cardinal Principle of Friendship.
* a listing of the nominee's actions, accomplishments and life experiences
that reflect the Fraternity's Cardinal Principle of Service.
* any additional information or comments that the nominator would like the
committee to consider.
* the nominator's name, telephone number(s) and e-mail address; or, in the
case of a nomination being submitted by a Chapter or other group of people,
the names, telephone numbers and e-mail addresses of at least two contact
people.
The 1997 Fall Pledge Class Namesake Committee looks forward to receiving
your nominations. Thank you.
