Project description: ----------------------------------------
11 AmeriCorps*VISTA volunteers will be placed on host
campuses throughout Massachusetts to serve as mentors,
trainers, and resource gatherers for clusters of three
to four local colleges and universities. The VISTA volunteers

Following a ten-day intensive training program in
facilitative leadership, early childhood literacy, and
campus-based community service issues, VISTA volunteers will
be placed on host campuses for a year of full-time service.
MACC VISTAs will provide formal and informal training and
assistance to students, staff, and faculty in the areas of:
student leadership in community service and service learning,
literacy training, connecting federal work-study community
service placements with campus community service programs and
integration of campus service efforts. To build the quality
of student leadership, MACC VISTA volunteers will also
implement a year-long on-site, regional and state-level
training program for identified student leaders called "MACC
Leaders". All 11 VISTAs will meet regularly, as a group for
additional training and service event planning.
Desired skills and experience: -----------------------------
