Brothers,

Some of you may remember when I asked you assistance for Amy
LaBarbiera, the 5-year-old daughter of a Delta Rho brother
('80). Amy needed double lung and heart transplants two years
ago. The LaBarbiera family was overwhelmed by the cards and
letters they received from APO brothers across the country, and
extend their thanks. However, it saddens me to tell you that
Amy died last November of a lung infection. She had two extra
years because of the transplants, and even attended the
Transplant Olympics where she won a bronze medal in a sprint
race.

HBO is presenting a documentary special about Amy LaBarbiera,
called "Heart of a Child". It airs on June 12, 1997 at 8 PM.
the documentary was produced to encourage folks to become organ
donors. The LaBarbieras hope that their friends will watch,
but caution you that it may not be suitable for very young
children. I had spoken with Lenny LaBarbiera last year when
they were making the documentary, and he felt very positive
about it; he siad the camera crew almost lived with them for a
good number of weeks. Lenny and his family sent out a
wonderful letter to thank everyone who contributed to Amy's
fund and to let us know about the HBO special.

I also extend my thanks to you, brothers, for the wonderful
response and tolerating my use of APO-L for this purpose.

YIF,
Betsy Ullrich (Delta Rho '79)
