First of all, I would like to thank Tanya for her post
regarding the mass destruction that caused extensive damage to our city
and university. The overwhelming events that have occurred in the last
month have brought our entire community together.

The Epsilon Theta chapter at the University of North Dakota spent many
long nights helping the residents of Grand Forks prepare for what was to
be a record flood. Little did we know, the river would rise five feet above
its expected crest and cancel classes and finals for the remainder of the
semester. As a life-long resident of Grand Forks, I was
overwhelmed to see how Alpha Phi Omega and other campus organizations
came to the aid in this extreme situation.

When the city was still under water, I volunteered at the Red Cross
shelter for several 10 hour days and realized the great things that they
do. As Tanya mentioned, I encourage all chapters to do what they can to
help the Red Cross and Salvation Army continue their services. They have
been in Grand Forks from the beginning, were around every corner to
lend a hand, and will be here until the end.

Our APO events came to a quick halt, not allowing us to hold our
elections, bylaw revisions, and our 50th
Anniversary banquet. On behalf of the chapter, I would like to thank all
who sent us cards and encouragement letters to help us celebrate our 50
years as Epsilon Theta.

Best wishes in the year to come.
