I was looking through the News at the Greekzone
(http://www.greekzone.com) and found they have had two stories on Alpha
Phi Omega. One is a story on how APO at U of Arkansas helped Tornado
victims in Arkadelphia Arkansas and the other is on a chapter that did a
Rubber Duck Regatta, but it doesn't say which chapter. I sent mail to the
web site owners but haven't gotten a response back, so I thought to see
if anyone here would know...

The brothers identified in the story are Lacey Renfroe and Scott Dolezal
and they've run it for the last 7 years.

Here is the Article.

Rubber Ducks Race for Charity

Alpha Phi Omega, a coed service fraternity, sponsored its
seventh
Annual Rubber Duck Regatta. Its biggest spring fund-raiser, the
group raised several hundred dollars for the March of Dimes,
which works to prevent birth defects.

To raise the money for the charity, members of the
fraternity sold
tickets for $1 each. Everyone who bought a ticket received
coupons from local restaurants and shops. For each ticket
sold, a
duck was entered in the race.

Hundreds of yellow floating ducks were released at the same
time
headed toward the finish line. The first three and last
three ducks
that crossed the line won prizes including T-shirts, CDs,
Disney
videos and gift certificates from local restaurants.

Since most of the ducks got stuck in the river on rocks and
twigs,
Alpha Phi Omega members had to wade in the river to pushing the
ducks down stream to the finish line.

Passerby had a fun time watching the floating ducks and wading
              students.

"Many people walking by were surprised by what they saw, and
stopped and watched the ducks float down the river while also
buying tickets," said Lacey Renfroe, one of the organizers
of the
              event.

The fraternity organized entertainment to entice onlooks to
participate in the event. A human dancing duck and singing
              performances added to the fun.

"This event started seven years ago from a pretty original
idea that
one of the Alpha Phi Omega members at the time had, and this
year's crowd was about average, but not spectacular," said
              member Scott Dolezal.

Organizers commented that they were very happy with the
participation of Alpha Phi Omega members and
              pledges who volunteered their time.
