First of all, your chapter must approve this brother as a member of your
chapter. This procedure should be spelled out in your bylaws if there is a
process. This can range from formal voting to "you want to join our
chapter?, Welcome, We're glad to have you." As far as paperwork, there is
a membership transfer application available FREE from the national office.
If you don't have one, contact the National office and they'll send you
one. Fill it out and send it in. The transfer brother will receive a new
membership card indicating membership in the new chapter.

When I was an undergraduate brother at Central Michigan University (Epsion
Beta Chapter) circa 1990/1991, we ran into the same problem (we were
rechartered in 1980). I redid the family trees using a paint/draw
program, putting each semester's pledges on a line within the trees, and
drawing the lines. It looked real nice, but we were running into the
problem of too many pledges being added at the bottom of the tree in a
pledge class to give us room to draw lines.
What I did was to draw the main "root" of the tree down to a point where a
brother had many littles (and grand littles, etc...). I then put an
indication that there was a subtree under that person. I then drew the
subtree on a separate piece of paper. Our 3 family trees (3 pieces of
paper) turned into 5-6, but you were able to read everything and still have
room. I generally gave subtrees to people with at least 2 littles.
This has persisted. Back in April, I attended the 50th Anniversary banquet
and the current family trees were displyed with the even more numerous
subtrees.
Unfortunately, they didn't continue some of my procedures, labeling what
should have been the Scott Begin Subtree (I had two littles, although they
had someone else listed as one of my littles) as the James Martin Subtree
(my big, I was his only little:). I didn't try to correct them, but I do
have the large poster that was displayed (and they said we could take it:)
