Hello everyone!
The 1997 Region III Conference is fast-approaching! If you have not
registered yet, you'd better hurry. The deadline for registration has already
passed it was October 10th, any registrations received after the 10th will have
a $5 late fee assessed to it. Registration check-in will be from 5pm-12am in
the hotel lobby. Directions to the hotel can be found on the 1997 Region III
Conference web site, the address is listed below. For those of you without web
browsers please contact me through email or call the Hotel. (1-800-331-7919 in
NC) (outside NC 1-800-237-0772)
When you arrive on Friday night, there will be a variety of events
available. The annual Boys' Club carnival is available for those brothers who
arrive early on Friday. We will meet at 5:30 in the hotel lobby. Please bring
a costume if available. We do this carnival every year, and it is always lots
of fun. If you are arriving later, there will also be a group of people going
to the NC State Fair. If you've never been to the NC State Fair, it is
definitely an experience you won't want to miss! We will be leaving at 8pm
>from the hotel lobby. If you are traveling a long distance on Friday, or just
plan on
arriving late, we also have something planned for you. There will be a massage
workshop at 10pm at the hotel. (Ask for the exact room number when you
register.) This will give you a chance to rest before the busy day we have
planned for you on Saturday!
There are 4 service projects planned for Saturday, they are:
Adopt-A-Highway, Pullen Park Clean-up, work at the Tammy Lynn Center and
Prevent Child Abuse Family Fun Day.
Adopt-A-Highway: Duration-> 9am to 12pm, What to bring-> work gloves and
comfortable shoes.
Pullen Park Clean-up: Duration-> 1pm to 4pm, What to bring-> work gloves and
comfortable shoes.
Tammy Lynn Center: Duration-> 1pm to 4pm, What to bring-> creativity, and an
upbeat personality! (This is a center for mentally and physically handicapped
kids, they need laughter and sunshine!)
Prevent Child Abuse Family Fun Day: Duration-> 10-3 What to bring-> A smile!
Car-pool information will be handed out at registration.
**In order to prepare for these projects, we need some estimates from your
chapters! (Even if they are merely preliminary numbers.) So, PLEASE OBTAIN AN
ESTIMATE FOR EACH SERVICE PROJECT!!! This can be sent via e-mail or snail
mail.**
From 3pm to 5pm on Saturday, there will be an alumni reception. An alumni
DSK will be given out at this time. Also, If you would like to send a
representative to speak about upcoming events in your chapter, this would be
the place to send them.(Please ask for details as to the room assignment upon
check-in.)
Finally, at 6pm the banquet will begin. The proper dress is
"interview attire" The dance will follow the banquet at 10pm. The theme for
the dance is "Under the Sea," and the dress is casual.
Also, for those of you who have T-shirts to sell, they can be sold by the
conference fraternity store at a $0.50 charge per shirt.
