Brothers,

I want to thank the fifteen people who responded to my request for
information about the SAA position. I've forwarded these responses to
my President. In case anyone's curious, here's what I found:

Chapters submitting info: ZE, EZ, NE, LQ, ZTh(2), ThE, ABZ, ZPs, FE, M,
LF, GN, O, and K.

> 1) How common are SAA's?

Very common, apparently.

> 2) What duties does the SAA perform?

Keeping order at meetings, maintaining bylaws, acting parliamentarian,
caring for chapter property, overseeing ceremonies and ceremony
equipment, running elections, acquiring meeting rooms, discipling
members as required. Not all SAA's do all of the above.

> 3) Is the SAA mentioned in chapter bylaws?

Always.

> 5) To whom does the SAA report?

Often the president. Sometimes the SAA is an officer-at-large, to
maintain impartiality.

> 6) Who, if anyone, does the SAA oversee?

Sometimes bylaws and rules committees, or during meetings, all members.

> 7) How is the SAA considered as an officer? (exec board or not, etc.)

Sometimes on exec board, but if not technically, is usually given a
standing invitation.

> 8) Is your SAA appointed or elected?

There was a mixed bag here. I counted 8 chapters saying elected and 4
appointed.

I'd like to again thank everyone who responded, and I'm sure I'll be
back with more questions as we figure this out here at GA. Have a good
weekend!
